An Austin original, Schroeder Carpet is the oldest family owned and operated flooring store in town.

Selene Schroeder, our founder, was a pioneer. In 1983 she purchased an auto garage on South Lamar Boulevard and converted it to a small interior design firm that offered a variety of services. Breaking into a male dominated industry in an area of Austin that was not held in high esteem, she was ahead of her time. Because of Selene's vision, we are located in south Austin’s soulful South Lamar neighborhood. When Selene retired around 2000, her daughter Savana acquired the company. She continued to grow the business, shifting the focus to specialize in flooring. She curated a knowledgeable, experienced staff of women and together they built the Schroeder Carpet we know and love today. Maintaining a reputation for quality, we are honored that our clients and their families return to us again and again for a lifetime of flooring needs.

Although our name does not indicate it, we specialize in hardwood flooring as well as area rugs, stair runners, and wall to wall carpet. With a clientele composed of mostly custom home builders, interior designers, and architects, we work hard to stay relevant in the flooring industry. We are well versed in traditional styles and stay up to date with the latest innovations and trends. We look forward to assisting you with your flooring projects and needs.
